Cable Connection Examples

Our products connect to your computer or other device in a variety of ways, including USB, serial and RS-232. The example images below give an idea of what those connections look like. Barcode Scanner Cables
USB – Most common connection
The RJ-45 end (on the left) plugs into your scanner and the USB-A end (on the right) plugs into your computer.
Serial
The RJ-45 end (on the left) plugs into your scanner and the female serial end (on the right) plugs into your computer.
P/S2, Keyboard Wedge
The RJ-45 end on the left connects to your scanner. Plug your computer into the male end on the near right and your keyboard into the female end on the far right.
Printer Cables
USB (A-B) – Most common connection
The USB-B end (on the left) plugs into your printer and the USB-A end (on the right) plugs into your computer.
Parallel
The female end (on the left) plugs into your printer and the male end (on the right) plugs into your computer.
Ethernet (CAT5/CAT5e/CAT6)
Both ends of the Ethernet cable are alike. Plug one end into your printer and the other end into your computer.
Serial (RS-232 9 pin to 9 pin)(Most common serial connection for label printers)
The male end (on the left) plugs into your printer and the female end (on the right) plugs into your computer.
Serial (RS-232 9 pin to 25 pin)(Most common serial connection for receipt printers)
The USB-B end (on the left) plugs into your printer and the USB-A end (on the right) plugs into your computer.
