ZenBusiness reviews its own products and services and compares them to others in the industry.
It’s an unfortunate reality of the business world that not every corporation and limited liability company (LLC) lasts forever. If the time comes that you need to close your entity’s doors, you want to make sure that you complete each step of the dissolution process exactly as you’re supposed to. If you don’t, you could leave yourself open to legal issues and lawsuits down the line. Due to the importance of the dissolution process, many entrepreneurs like to hire reputable business service providers to take care of this essential service.
Many of the same companies that offer incorporation and LLC formation services also provide entity dissolution services. In a way, you could say that these companies are involved with both the beginning and end of the company’s life cycle.
Interestingly, our list of the top choices for business formation service doesn’t have as much overlap with our list of entity dissolution preferences as you might expect. Among three of the top options for incorporation and LLC formation service — ZenBusiness, Incfile, and Northwest Registered Agent — two of them (ZenBusiness and Northwest) don’t offer dissolutions at all, while Incfile’s price point for this service is a bit high at $149 (+ state fee). With that in mind, let’s take a look at four of the most popular choices for entity dissolutions and see what sets them apart from the competition.
Each of these companies has its own advantages and disadvantages compared to the others. Pricing is always our top consideration, but we also consider many other factors when ranking the best companies. The companies on this list all provide affordable services, and most of them also have good customer service and positive customer feedback.
What makes this competition especially difficult is that the actual services these companies offer for business entity dissolutions barely vary at all — the vast majority of them have the exact same offer. This makes it harder to differentiate these companies based on included features. Which one is the best choice?
MyCompanyWorks is a popular option, with an appealing offer that costs less than $100 ($99 + state fee) to dissolve an LLC or corporation. One of the best reasons to use MyCompanyWorks is its positive track record with customer reviews. We found around 4,200 reviews of their services online, and they maintain high average rating scores.
Another aspect of MyCompanyWorks that we appreciate is how responsive their customer support representatives are. While some competitors will make you wait for days before responding to your support inquiries, MyCompanyWorks responds to most calls and emails within just 20 minutes, as long as you reach out during business hours. They’re a well-rounded company with plenty of advantages.
InCorp has the industry’s second-best price point for dissolution service, at $99 plus an $18 shipping fee for a total of $117 (+ state fee). However, Incorp has so-so customer feedback. While these other companies have thousands of positive reviews available, InCorp has about 180 reviews that are more mixed between positive and negative feedback.
InCorp has good pricing for registered agent service, although this doesn’t really move the needle if you’re closing your LLC or corporation, does it? Overall, InCorp is a solid company with good service.
LegalZoom is one of the biggest names in this industry, with a massive customer base numbering in the millions, along with extensive ad campaigns. LegalZoom has more experience than the majority of competitors, and it also offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee that’s one of the best refund policies you’ll find in this industry (it’s nearly identical to our refund policy at ZenBusiness).
We also appreciate LegalZoom’s track record of positive customer feedback, as we found 6,000+ mostly positive reviews of their services. Additionally, customers like their extended customer support hours that include weekend availability. However, at $129 plus $9.95 for shipping (+ state fee), their price point for dissolutions is a bit higher than the companies we’ve already discussed.
Rounding out the top four is another popular company in this industry, Swyft Filings. This company receives positive customer feedback, with 36,000+ reviews available online and only a small handful of negative feedback. Like LegalZoom and ZenBusiness, Swyft Filings has a generous 100% satisfaction guarantee, whereas many competitors in this industry have highly restrictive refund policies.
Before we wrap things up, we wanted to briefly mention IncParadise, a company that provides dissolution services for Nevada-based LLCs and corporations. At $89 (plus state fee), they offer the lowest price point we’ve seen for Nevada LLC dissolutions. Sweetening the deal is the fact that IncParadise provides free expediting services for Nevada business entities.
IncParadise doesn’t have a ton of customer feedback, and they only offer dissolution service in Nevada (for what it’s worth, they provide many of their other services in all 50 states), but their offering is interesting enough that we thought it was worth mentioning.
