ZenBusiness reviews its own products and services and compares them to others in the industry.
Both Rocket Lawyer and Incfile/Bizee are good LLC formation services. With either option, you’re getting a reputable company that provides high-quality LLC service. Still, there are some differences between them.
First and foremost, Incfile/Bizee’s cheapest LLC service package is free (all you’ll pay is your state’s fee) compared to the $99.99 price point offered by Rocket Lawyer. In addition, Incfile/Bizee includes more features, like a year of registered agent service at no extra charge. However, in general, Rocket Lawyer is a decent Incfile/Bizee alternative.
1) Affordable: Both of these providers are capable of forming a new company at a far lower cost than a lawyer will charge you. You can save hundreds of dollars with Rocket Lawyer or Incfile/Bizee.
2) Customer Support: Cutting costs is great, but with Rocket Lawyer and Incfile/Bizee, you’re still getting strong customer support. Instead of wasting time hunting for answers on your own, you can direct your questions to their customer service reps.
3) Experience: These are two experienced companies, as Rocket Lawyer and Incfile/Bizee have each served more than a million customers. With track records like this, these operations are legitimate and trustworthy.
4) Additional Services: Both are capable of helping your company with other business solutions beyond forming an LLC. From registered agent service to federal employer ID number (EIN) obtainment, these companies are one-stop business service shops.
5) Positive Customer Reviews: If you like to read customer reviews before making a purchase, both Rocket Lawyer and Incfile/Bizee have quite a bit of feedback for you to peruse, and it’s mostly positive in nature. It’s not hard to get an idea of what your customer experience will be like with either company.
6) Educational: Whether you end up becoming a customer or not, Incfile/Bizee and Rocket Lawyer both offer lots of free information on their websites. If you need to know more about business formations or compliance requirements, the info is right at your fingertips.
Rocket Lawyer: Rocket Lawyer only offers one LLC formation service package. It costs $99 (+ state fee) and includes no features beyond the basics. However, it offers this package for free for new members to its $39.99/month legal services subscription.
Incfile/Bizee: Incfile/Bizee will help you form your business for free (+ state fee) while also providing a year of registered agent service. Once the first year is over, the registered agent service will renew for $119 per year. In addition, their $199 Gold package and $299 Platinum package both include valuable features that make them options as well, even at their higher price points.
Rocket Lawyer: Rocket Lawyer has been in business since 2008, and they’ve served 25+ million customers since then, although it’s unclear how many of those are business clients as opposed to individual customers.
Incfile/Bizee: Incfile/Bizee’s experience level is high, as they’ve helped form more than 1 million businesses since they opened in 2004.
Rocket Lawyer: Rocket Lawyer offers phone, chat, and email support, with operating hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. We’re pleased with the responsiveness and helpfulness of their phone and email support. The chat feature is a bit convoluted in its presentation (it starts as more of a searchable FAQ before connecting you with a representative) but it does work once you figure it out.
Incfile/Bizee: Incfile/Bizee offers phone and email support, which we tested. Incfile/Bizee’s phone support is typically responsive and helpful. However, its email support is much less responsive. Some of our emails have gone unanswered, and several of the responses we have received are just form emails that don’t directly address our questions. Their support department is available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET Monday-Friday.
Rocket Lawyer: If you’d like to get an estimate for turnaround times for your state of formation, click through the order form to the page where you decide whether or not to expedite your order. On this page, you can access estimates of the number of days required for both expedited and standard processing times. It would be nice to have these turnaround times listed in a more convenient spot, as opposed to several pages into the order form.
Incfile/Bizee: With Incfile/Bizee, turnaround times vary based on each individual state’s formation speeds. This can be as quick as a few days in some states or could take several weeks in others. You can also add expedited processing to speed it up, although the price will vary by state.
Rocket Lawyer: This company receives solid customer feedback. We found nearly 10,000 reviews on reputable third-party review sites, and the majority of them were positive.
Incfile/Bizee: Incfile/Bizee doesn’t just have hundreds of customer reviews available online, they have 75,000+ of them. Furthermore, their feedback is mostly positive, with critical reviews in short supply.
Rocket Lawyer: Ordering business formation with Rocket Lawyer can be easier or harder than other services, based on your perspective. They don’t have tiered packages as many of their competitors do. Instead, you walk through a handful of add-ons before checking out. Still, it only took us about 10 minutes to walk through the form, make our selections, and reach the checkout screen.
Incfile/Bizee: As you walk through the process of signing up for Incfile/Bizee, your steps are personalized based on the state you live in and the type of business you wish to establish. There are hyperlinks throughout the application to learn more about a specific question or entry on the form. There are a few upsells and third-party offers to navigate through, but if you opt into any of them, your total price is immediately updated on the screen.
There is quite a bit of overlap between these companies when it comes to additional services, as they both offer registered agent services, annual reports, and other common business services. However, Rocket Lawyer also has some unique services that Incfile/Bizee doesn’t provide, due in part to their commitment to providing a wide variety of both business and personal services.
For example, Rocket Lawyer offers its clients services to assist them with things like home ownership, estate planning, and divorce. They also provide access to business attorneys for consultations. These are all services that Incfile/Bizee doesn’t offer.
Rocket Lawyer and Incfile/Bizee offer similar services, but they certainly differ in some important areas. Depending on your specific needs, you may have already decided which one you prefer. We understand that some of you may remain undecided, so let’s close by reviewing some situations that might lead you to prefer one or the other (or a top competitor).

Would you like to take a look at a few other options and see if Incfile/Bizee is as good as other companies? Check out our comparisons of Incfile/Bizee to other top-rated LLC services:
One of the drawbacks of Incfile/Bizee’s service is that it doesn’t offer assistance with state-specific compliance requirements like publication. When we called them to clarify this, they told us that publication requirements “need to be taken care of with the state directly.” Rocket Lawyer does offer publication service, although its pricing for this service is pretty high.
If you need help with NY publication requirements, check out our New York publication service for more information.
Both of these companies do a pretty good job of avoiding nonstop upsells. Incfile/Bizee has a few inobtrusive upsells sprinkled in throughout the order form. Rocket Lawyer does make several attempts to get you to upgrade to their legal services subscription plan, but because the subscription includes free LLC formation service for new subscribers (and has a 7-day free trial), we don’t really have much of a problem with this.
Rocket Lawyer has a solid refund policy. As long as you request your refund within 30 days of your initial purchase date, they will provide a refund with no questions asked.
Incfile/Bizee has a more restrictive policy, unfortunately. If you order LLC service from them, you can only request a refund before they submit payment to your formation state, which typically happens within 24 hours, and there is a $30 processing fee involved. After they’ve sent your payment to the state, there are no more refunds available.
The turnaround times for Rocket Lawyer and Incfile/Bizee are nearly identical because they both use the same criteria to calculate them. Both of these companies base their processing estimates on how quickly each individual state processes LLC formations, so although one or the other may be a day or two faster in a few isolated states, in most states they are very close competitors.
You can, and many entrepreneurs do form their own LLCs every day. However, we appreciate the peace of mind we receive from using a reputable formation service. In addition, each state has its own rules and regulations for LLC formations, so there can often be more legwork than people might expect.
Incfile/Bizee has one big advantage, and that’s its overall pricing and value. Incfile/Bizee has a plan that bundles together formation service with a year of registered agent service for free (+ state fee). As for Rocket Lawyer, their more reliable and responsive customer support is an advantage over Incfile/Bizee, and their customer volume is unrivaled in this industry.
You can purchase Rocket Lawyer’s registered agent service for $149.99 per year, but they don’t offer annual report service, so their level of assistance with ongoing compliance requirements is less than impressive. As for Incfile/Bizee, they have an annual price point of $119 for registered agent service, and their annual report service is available for $99.
